The Rainwater harvesting project at Vinayak Darshan Housing Society was accomplished within a minimal cost of Rupees 000. In return, it recharges the existing borewell to provide water for flushing throughout the year. The housing society, which receives only 10 minutes of municipal water supply each day, consists of 200 residents who until the installation of the system were left at the mercy of rain god during summer months. The system, probably the first one to be installed in the city of Dombivili, was inaugurated by the Kalyan Dombivili Municipal Commisioner, Mr. Dhanaraj Khamatkhar, the Mayor and local MLA, Mr. Harishchandra Patil.
